How To Play Enchantile
If you’ve ever played Scrabble or Words With Friends, you basically already know how to play Enchantile. And if you haven’t ever played either, you probably wouldn’t be here reading this! While the game mechanics are very similar, there are some differences that make Enchantile unique, without straying to far from the formula we’ve all grown to love over the years.
Similarly, the basic goal is to use the letters that you’ve drawn from the virtual “bag” to form a word(you’ll see your available letters at the bottom of the game play screen, under the board). Each turn you want to play the highest scoring word, so that at the end of the game, you have more points than your opponent(s). The tricks is to try and use all your letters and leverage the spaces on the board with multiplies to increase the value of each letter of the word you play.
Some of the featuers that make Enchantile different are that it has dynamic zoom levels, which allows you to zero in on smaller portions of the board (this is great for older people, like myself, who want to get a better view of the game board), seamless tile placement and really nice organized, uncluttered design interface. In this aspect, it’s almost like an early version of Words With Friends, before they added all the bells and whistles that absolutely no one asked for!
Enchantile also offers more game modes. In addition to the standard tête-à-tête (I think that’s the French term for head to head. I should probably stick to English!) and practice modes, Enchantile also has a cool new multi-player mode. The Words With Friends and Scrabble communities have wanted this feature for a long time (instead we got features we didn’t want that were primarily about pushing more in-app spending, but that’s a rant for another day and page) So that is fantastic! Thank you Enchantile developers! Bravo! (oops, French again, or is bravo Italian? Yikes. Stick to English!). Finally, there is also a mode called Hands-Off. We haven’t taken our hands off Enchantile yet, so we’ll have to report back on that.
Enchantile also has some cool features in the Wizard Rewind and Points Meter. Wizard Rewind allows you to revisit a past play to see the highest scoring word you could have played instead, which is almost like cheating after the fact. But seriously, this feature can significantly help you with insights, strategy improvement and assist your quest to improve your overall gameplay strategy.
This is a lot of new stuff and some familiar stuff, but honestly, our favorite feature is Dark Mode. Who doesn’t love dark mode? It’s better for your eyes, your phone screen, saves your battery and it just flat out looks better. Yay Dark Mode!
